Jeong Cheong-rae won first place in the Democratic Party’s primary election for the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam provinces on Aug. 1 [1, 2].

According to the Democratic Party Election Management Committee, the regional electorate consisted of 18,027 eligible party members [1]. A total of 9,363 members cast their ballots [1], resulting in a voter turnout of 51.94% [1].

Jeong secured the top position with 4,054 votes, which represents a 43.30% share of the vote [1]. Other candidates trailed significantly in the regional tally. Song Young-gil received 972 votes, accounting for 10.38% of the total [1].

"The voter turnout is 51.94%," So Byeong-hun, the chair of the Democratic Party Election Management Committee, said [1].
