The Telangana Cricket Association has issued legal notices to several actors and cricketers regarding the regulatory status of the proposed TG20 league [1].

This action signals a potential clash between independent sports ventures and established governing bodies over the control of cricket in the region. If the league is found to be operating without proper authorization, it could face a complete shutdown before its official launch.

The notices were sent to actors Vijay Deverakonda and Venkatesh Daggubati, as well as cricketers Mohammed Siraj, Tilak Varma, and Ambati Rayudu [1, 3]. The TCA said the TG20 league lacks mandatory approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) [3, 4].

According to the association, the league violates established regulatory, financial, and franchise allocation norms [3, 4]. The TCA said the project suffers from governance and financial transparency issues [1, 2].

Beyond the administrative failures, the TCA raised concerns about the involvement of high-profile celebrities. The association said that celebrity promotion of the league could mislead sponsors and aspiring players [3, 4].

The dispute centers on the jurisdiction of the Telangana Cricket Association in Hyderabad [1]. The association is seeking to ensure that all cricket leagues within its territory adhere to the standards set by the BCCI to maintain the integrity of the sport.

Representatives for the actors and cricketers have not yet publicly responded to the legal notices. The TCA said the TG20 league's current structure is not compliant with national cricket regulations [4, 5].

The TCA said the TG20 league lacks mandatory approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

This legal move underscores the strict control the BCCI and its affiliated state associations maintain over the cricket ecosystem in India. By targeting both the athletes and the celebrity backers, the TCA is attempting to dismantle the league's credibility and financial viability. This serves as a warning to private organizers that celebrity influence cannot bypass the formal regulatory and approval processes required to operate professional cricket leagues.
