In the Var department, a separate fire burned 1,800 hectares [2]. Reports on the Var fire vary, with some sources saying the perimeter has not evolved while others noted new flare-ups [1, 5].
The broader region continues to struggle with extreme weather. Currently, 20 departments are under orange heat vigilance [2]. This high-temperature environment increases the risk of renewed ignitions, a precarious state for emergency services already stretched thin by the megafire.
The psychological toll on residents remains high. The mayor of Correns in Var described the experience of the fires as "very anxiety-inducing," saying that people could no longer enter or leave the village [1].
