Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) International Airport at Bhogapuram on Aug. 1, 2024 [3].
The opening of the greenfield aviation project is intended to boost regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth across the state. This visit coincides with the launch of a wider suite of development initiatives aimed at transforming the region's infrastructure.
Located in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, the ASR International Airport represents a significant investment in the state's transport network. The construction of the facility cost approximately 5,000 crore rupees [2]. The airport is designed to serve as a primary gateway for North Andhra, reducing travel times, and facilitating international trade.
Beyond the airport opening, the Prime Minister is scheduled to launch several development projects across Andhra Pradesh. These initiatives are valued at about ₹17,900 crore [1]. The projects span various sectors intended to enhance the state's overall growth trajectory.
Chandrababu Naidu said, "Bhogapuram International Airport will become a landmark for North Andhra and transform the region's development trajectory."
The inauguration marks the completion of a major strategic project for the state government. By establishing a new international hub, the administration seeks to attract further private investment, and improve the movement of goods and people within the Vizianagaram district and surrounding areas.
